Make these twine-wrapped large Easter egg decorations for your spring home décor! I found these extra large Easter eggs at the Dollar Tree and wrapped twine around them for the easiest and cheapest Easter-themed décor. With only a few supplies, this super simple project can be tackled in under 30 minutes!

How To Make Large Easter Egg Decorations
The easiest Easter decorations ever! I found these plastic eggs at the Dollar Store and knew they would be the perfect project.
I’ve made a few different versions of yarn-wrapped Easter eggs like these eggs wrapped with fuzzy yarn. They are all cute, but these go perfectly with my farmhouse décor.
Each egg takes almost a full roll of twine, which comes to about $2 each. That’s not bad for farmhouse Easter décor. Scope out your local Dollar Tree for some extra-large Easter eggs. Then add this twine-wrapped Easter egg project to your to-do list!
Supplies Needed To Make Large Easter Egg Decorations
- Large plastic Easter Eggs (I got mine from the Dollar Tree)
- Baker’s Twine and/or Jute Twine
NOTE: These were the eggs before I got started. They are BIG, about 8 inches from end to end, and they were $1 each.

Then, I used some jute twine on one, and on the other, I used baker’s twine. Both from the Dollar Store. Be sure you have plenty of twine, however, cause this project will take quite a bit!

Step 1: Glue Twine On One End Of Egg
Start by using your hot glue gun on one end. Be careful not to burn your fingers. The image below shows how to begin.

Step 2: Wrap Twine Around Plastic Egg
Keep wrapping and gluing…wrapping and gluing… pop a movie in. This took me a while. I actually went around the eggs once and then around them a second time because after one time, there were still some gaps.

However, after two times around, they were perfect!

Once your eggs are fully wrapped, you are ready to display them!

These are going on my spring mantle which I will show y’all tomorrow. I am in love with these twine-wrapped Easter eggs and I am sure they will be in my home for years to come!

Also, feel free to mix and match the different twines. You even paint the twine for extra variety! Have fun making these large Easter egg decorations for your home!
FAQs About Large Easter Egg Decorations

I Can’t Find These Large Plastic Eggs At My Dollar Store. What Can I Do?
If you can’t find these large plastic eggs at your Dollar Store, you can find something similar on Amazon!
Can I Use A Different Kind Of Glue?
Hot glue is ideal for projects like this one because it dries quickly and holds securely. However, you could use super or tacky glue if you don’t have a hot glue gun. The only thing to remember is that the drying time will vary if you use super or tacky glue.
Can I Use Regular Yarn For This Project?
Yes, you can! However, if you use regular yarn, I would go with a bit thicker or chunkier yarn.
Can I Use Multiple Colors Of Twine Or Yarn?
Absolutely! If you decide to use multiple colors of twine or yarn, make sure that each section is glued down securely to your plastic egg.
Also, to make your life easier, you could get color-changing yarn so you only have to work with one skein.
