Father’s Day Gift Bags
If you are looking for the perfect Father’s Day gift, start by making this gift bag! This is such a cute way to give something special to your Dad. You can even get the kids involved!
Stuff this bag with all kinds of fun treats, like a candy tackle box, grilling items, pencil and pen holder, handmade frame, or other handmade gifts. Don’t forget the card!
Supplies Needed To Make Father’s Day Gift Bags
- Fabric-covered brads
- Mini Glue Dots
- White paper lunch sacks
- Scrapbook paper (pick some that will look great as a bow tie)
- Cricut machine or circle-cutting dies
- Letter stamps and ink
- Scissors
How to Make a DIY Father’s Day Gift Bag
Step 1: Cut A Piece Of Paper 2 Inches Wide
First, cut a piece of scrapbook paper for your bow tie. It should be a rectangle about 2 inches wide and not quite as long as the short side of your white paper bag.
Step 2: Fold Paper And Cut Into Triangle
Next, fold the piece of scrapbook paper in half and cut diagonally from one corner to another to create a triangle. Unfold the triangle, and you should have a bow tie shape.
Step 3: Glue Bow Tie To Lunch Bag
Use glue dots to attach the bow tie to the white paper bag.
Step 4: Add Brads To Lunch Bag
Next, make the “buttons” for the bag. Add the brads down the center of the bag, punching the tabs through the bag (not all the way) and folding the tabs out from the inside of the bag.
Step 5: Make Tag And Glue It To Lunch Bag
I then used a few coordinating pieces of scrapbook paper and cut two concentric circles. On the top circle, I stamped a message for Dad with letter stamps and ink.
Then, once I was happy with how the tag looked, I glued it to the lunch bag using glue dots!
What a fun way to show Dad you care this Father’s Day! Make him his own customized gift bag with these easy-to-follow instructions. Pick scrapbook paper he will love and be sure to add a saying that is perfect for your father.
I was so pleased I made a second version just for fun! I love these little shirt gift bags and they are so easy to make.
These would be great for getting the kids involved in crafting as well. They are definitely easy enough for the kids to make. Let them cut and stamp away while you supervise the addition of the brads. So, what are you waiting for? Get started on your DIY Father’s Day gift bags today.
Tips and Tricks for DIY Father’s Day Gift Bags
Now that you’ve seen these fun DIY Father’s Day gift bags, are you ready to make your own? Here are a few tips and tricks to ensure your project goes as smoothly as possible!
- Pick Your Lunch Bag Color – The two most common and easy-to-get lunch bag colors are white and brown. Both colors make adorable gift bags, however, if you want something more bright, you can always buy a colored lunch bag. Colored lunch bags can be found on Amazon, and you can usually get a bunch for a great price!
- Decorate Your Lunch Bag First—If your white lunch bag is just too plain, you or your kids could always draw on it before adding the bow tie, brads, and tag. This would be perfect for the little ones because they could color away, and then you could add all the final touches.
- Use Your Scraps – When making the bow tie for this project, don’t feel like you have to buy new scrapbooking paper. What you have on hand is perfectly fine, and this project will put your scraps to good use!
- Use Your Cricut—If you have a Cricut machine, you can skip steps 1 and 2 of this project and cut out a bow tie instead. I wanted this project to be easy to make for everyone, so I cut out my bow tie by hand. However, if you would rather use your Cricut, go for it!
- No Brads? No Problem! – If you don’t have brads, you can easily use buttons or pom-poms instead! If you use buttons or pom-poms, you could either add a glue dot to the back or use liquid glue to adhere them to the lunch bag.
- Skip The Tag – If you are short on time or supplies, you can easily skip the tag for this project. It’s still an adorable bag and gets the ”Father’s Day message” across. However, if you are looking for an alternative you could use stickers.
