Winter and snowmen go hand in hand for preschoolers. Follow this tutorial to learn how to take ordinary popcorn boxes and transform them into a preschool snowman craft that your kids will love making!
Preschoolers love snowman crafts and well, anything snowman-related (including making them when it snows!). So, it’s no wonder that preschool snowman crafts are a huge hit during the cold winter months.
One thing many families (including mine!) enjoy doing together during the dark, cold time of year is watching movies together. Of course, no movie experience is complete without having some popcorn to enjoy as you watch!
One day, I saw an advertisement for a children’s snowman-related movie, and it inspired me to make snowman popcorn boxes!
Add this preschool snowman craft to your must-make list this winter. It’s perfect for fun winter playdates, snowy days at home, or any day! Then, everyone can sit around and enjoy a movie while you eat your popcorn from your own special box.

Preschool Snowman Craft Instructions
It’s time for some crafting fun! This super easy project is perfect for kids to do (some younger kiddos may need a little adult assistance).
Step 1: Make The Snowman Nose Flat (Optional)
If your snowman nose has a bump on one end (as shown below), an adult will need to use scissors to remove these before the kids can tackle this project. Just make sure they are as flat as possible.
If your snowman noses don’t have that bump, you can skip this part!
Step 2: Add The Snowman Face To The Popcorn Box
Now, let the kids take over and start adding a snowman face to the front of each popcorn box with glue. If young children are doing this craft, you may want to assist with the gluing.
Allow the glue to dry before continuing with your preschool snowman craft.
Step 3: Cut Strips Of Felt
While they wait for the glue to dry, they can cut a blue strip of felt (about one inch wide) to make a scarf.
Note: If one piece is not long enough to tie around your popcorn box, just use two pieces glued together.
Step 4: Add The Scarf To The Box
Open the popcorn box and tie the felt around as a scarf. Secure with a bit of glue if needed.
Now, all that’s left is to pop some popcorn and enjoy these adorable treat boxes. Let the kids make several and throw an exciting snowman-themed party during the first snowfall or just for fun!
Preschool Snowman Craft FAQs
If you have questions about turning popcorn boxes into snowman crafts for preschoolers, I have answers for you! Please leave your question for me in the comments if you don’t see it already answered below.
How can I personalize these boxes?
There are many ways to make these boxes unique to your family or unique to each child in the family. Here are a few ideas:
- Use colored google eyes (with a different color for each family member)
- Try different noses – there are flat versions that would be really cute!
- Use different colors of felt (each family member gets their own assigned/preferred color)
How can I adapt this preschool snowman craft for older kids?
Although this craft is easy enough for preschoolers to make (mostly) independently, it’s cute enough that older kids will enjoy it too!
If you want to make it a little longer or more interesting for older kids, let them draw their snowman faces on the boxes with markers instead of using google eyes, noses, and buttons.
