I love a good cheese tray at a party. You can make this great slate cheese tray for your parties in just a few minutes. The colorful strips are chalkboard so you can write in the types of cheeses for your guests. Choose the colors that match your party or home decor.
Items needed to make your own slate cheese tray:
- Slate tray of your choice
- Multi surface paint of your choice (I used Turquoise Waters)
- Clear chalkboard coating
- Painter’s Tape
- Paint brush
Add painter’s tape to both sides of your slate where you would like the colored strips to end. Paint two coats of the Americana Multi-Surface paint of your choice onto the slate (I used Turquoise Waters). Be sure to allow to dry in between coats. Then add two coats of Americana Clear Chalkboard Coating on top of that. Be sure to add one coat vertically and one coat horizontally to get complete coverage. Allow to dry and cure before continuing. Remove the painter’s tape, condition your surface with chalk, and then write on the names of some cheeses.
This slate cheese tray is ready for any party you are hosting. Your guests will love the addition of great cheese to the menu and being able to see at a glance the type of each.
Hey Angie, what do you mean by “condition your surface with chalk” exactly? Thanks!
Rub the side of a piece of chalk all over it and rub it off!
