I could not leave scout crafts week without a camping recipe! My campfire nachos recipe will be a hit with your family or scout troop! Add these to your menu when camping anytime of the year. If you have missed any of the fun this week, we have been sharing 15 minute craft ideas that are perfect for scout troops. Catch up by visiting the posts from day 1, day 2, day 3, and day 4.
Ingredients for Campfire Nachos:
- Tortilla chips
- Iron Skillet
- Nacho cheese or cheese dip
- Shredded cheese
- Any toppings that you love on your nachos!
How to Make Delicious Campfire Nachos
The size skillet I used will serve 2 – 3 people. You can use smaller or larger pans depending on your group size. Layer your chips in an iron skillet. Scoop on nacho cheese or your favorite brand of cheese dip. Add any ingredients that you would like to be warm when the dish is complete in the next layer. I put black beans and corn on my version. You can absolutely include meat on these as well. Then layer on as much shredded cheese as you would like. “Bake” near your campfire until the cheese is good and melted and the chips are nice and warm.
Remove from the fire and top with the toppings of your choice. I used black olives, diced green onions, salsa, and sour cream. Then just let your campers dig into this delectable meal idea! Make sure they are careful as the iron skillet may be hot! I am telling you these campfire nachos are AMAZING!! No campfire? No problem! Pop it under the broiler instead!
