Make a mason jar lamp and add your own style as the lamp base. This easy craft only takes a few minutes and a few dollars to make. Add a rustic burlap shade for a perfect farmhouse style!
This is the final day of spring jar week so be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post to see the ideas for today. You can also catch up with day 1, day 2, day 3, and day 4.
I love rustic farmhouse decor. It’s all the rage right now, and it suits my style perfectly, so I’m all in. So, the moment I saw lamps just like this one in a store, I knew I had to have one!
Plus, mason jars are my love language! I absolutely love how they can be used for anything from food storage to light fixtures, crafts, and more!
As you also know, lamps can be crazy expensive and as much as I loved the lamp, I couldn’t justify spending $100+ on another light fixture. So, I got creative and thought up this idea so you can make one at home, too.
Now, the supply list calls for birch wood, but this isn’t the birch wood from your yard – this is craft birch wood. You can find this product on Amazon or a craft store.
I wouldn’t recommend using real wood for this project as the wood will eventually rot and fall apart or have little critters living inside the wood – and no bugs are used (or harmed) in the making of this lamp.
If you can’t find birch wood, try filling the base of the lamp with these ideas:
- Seashells (real or store-bought)
- Sand
- Mosaic pieces
- Glass beads
- Dried beans – perfect for a small kitchen night light!
- Pinecones
- Wine corks
- Bottle caps
- Paint the inside
- Add old family photos
- Or, leave it empty!
This craft makes a fairly large lamp – best for a side table – but you could easily make this with a smaller jar and smaller supplies for little night lights.
