How To Make Turkey Thanksgiving Napkin Rings
First up is the turkey napkin ring. Okay, so it just mimics the turkey feathers, but it will look so cute and colorful on your Thanksgiving table!
Supplies You Need For Turkey Thanksgiving Napkin Rings
- Orange faux suede
- Yellow faux suede
- Red faux suede
- Yellow twisted burlap cord
- Toilet paper or paper towel roll
- Hot glue and a glue gun
Step 1: Wrap Cardboard Tube With Yarn
Cut off a small 1 to 2-inch piece from your cardboard tube. Cover it in the yellow cord as shown in the image below. You will need to secure the ends with hot glue.
Step 2: Cut Suede Turkey Feathers
Then, cut the yellow, orange, and red suede to about 3-inch lengths. Fold in half as shown in the image below. I used four pieces of each color to get a fuller turkey fan.
Step 3: Glue Suede Turkey Feathers To Napkin Ring
Use hot glue to secure the ends of that entire bundle of ribbon to the covered ring. Hold in place for a few seconds then release. The ribbon will fan out to look like turkey feathers.
One napkin ring down! That was easy, right? Now you just have to create as many additional ones as you need for the other guests at your holiday table.
How To Make Braided Ribbon Thanksgiving Napkin Rings
Our next idea is a braided ribbon napkin ring. If you can braid hair, making your own DIY Thanksgiving napkin rings will be a snap.
Supplies Needed To Make Braided Ribbon Thanksgiving Napkin Rings
- Orange faux suede
- Yellow faux suede
- Red faux suede
- Plain napkin ring
- Clothespins
- Hot glue and a glue gun
Step 1: Hold Ribbon Together With Clothespins
I used clothespins to hold the ribbon as I worked.
Step 2: Braid Ribbon
Braid just as you would if you were braiding your ponytail.
Step 3: Glue Braid To Napkin Ring
Use hot glue to secure the braided ribbon around a wood napkin ring and trim the ends once everything is secure.

How To Make Knotted Ribbon Thanksgiving Napkin Rings
Next is a napkin ring idea that can be completed with the ribbon of your choice. If you can tie a knot, you can make this napkin ring for your Thanksgiving table.
Supplies Needed To Make Knotted Ribbon Thanksgiving Napkin Rings
- Butterscotch striped ribbon or any other ribbon you love
- Toilet paper or paper towel roll
- Hot glue and a glue gun
Step 1: Wrap Ribbon Around Paper Roll
Bring a large piece of ribbon around from the back of the toilet paper roll.
Step 2: Twist Ribbon In The Front
Twist it around itself in the front.
Step 3: Bring Ribbon Ends To The Back
Then bring the loose ends around to the back.
Step 4: Glue Ribbon Ends
Secure the ends with a bit of hot glue in the back.
Pro Tip: Make sure that your toilet paper roll length is 1/2 an inch less than your ribbon width so it doesn’t show.
How easy is that? Your guests will never know that it only took you a few seconds to create these beautiful napkin rings!

Trim your toilet paper roll to about one inch long.
Step 2: Cover Toliet Paper Roll With Burlap
Cover the outside with the burlap ribbon and hot glue into place.
Step 3: Glue On Felt Leaves
Add the felt leaves on top of the burlap and again use hot glue to secure.
This gorgeous napkin ring will really bring out those fall colors on your table!

FAQs About DIY Thanksgiving Napkin Rings
Here are a couple of questions I often see from readers about these DIY Thanksgiving napkin rings. If you have a question but don’t see it down below, please leave it in the comments so I can answer it for you.
Can I Adjust The Size Of The Napkin Rings?
Yes, you can! Depending on the width of your ribbon you can make your napkin rings as skinny or as wide as you would like.
Can I Use A Different Kind Of Glue?
I prefer to use hot glue for projects like this one because it isn’t as messy as other types of glue and it dries quickly. You CAN use craft glue or even tacky glue for this project. But, be forewarned – the dry time will take longer, and the results may not be as good.
Can I Use A Ring Other Than A Paper Towel Or Toilet Paper Roll?
If you don’t have any toilet paper or paper towel tubes, you could use a plain napkin ring for any of these ideas. Another alternative would be to take card stock and make a ring similar to a toilet paper tube ring.
Can I Use Scraps Of Ribbon For These Napkin Rings?
If you only need to make one or two napkin rings, you could use scraps of ribbon. However, if you need to make 4 or 8 napkin rings, I recommend buying new spools of ribbon so you have enough for each napkin ring.
