Instructions for a DIY Easter Gift for Grandparents
Step 1: Paint the Wood Plaque.
Start by painting the wood plaque with the craft paint. Remember that the size of your plaque will depend on how many “peeps” you need.
I did one coat and the coverage was great but you may need two coats depending on the paint you use. Allow the entire thing to dry completely before continuing.
Step 2: Cut the “Peeps” using a Cricut.
While that dries, you can cut the pieces of your project from vinyl with your Cricut machine. I have the cut file for you and you can customize the names as well as add or take away some bunnies.
I have four bunnies total in the cut file but feel free to duplicate those to make more. Size the file to fit your wood piece then cut your pieces from any color vinyl that you wish.
Then, weed away the excess from all of your vinyl pieces. Remember to remove all excess from around the outside of each piece as well as the centers of any letters. You can find tips and tricks for weeding here.
Step 3: Add the faces and names to the bunnies.
Use transfer tape to add the faces as well as the names to each of the bunnies. This will allow you to pick up the entire thing for adding to your plaque later.
Then use a larger piece of transfer tape and pick up the words that run across the bottom. Then you will want to pick up the bunnies together. I found this was easier if I taped the bunnies to my work surface as shown below.
Step 4: Apply finishing touches.
I then added everything in place on my transfer tape.
And peeled away the backing on each of my bunnies. Now I have one piece to transfer to my painted wood piece.
If your paint is now dry, you can add the vinyl. Press into place.
Then peel back the transfer tape to reveal your design.
Your DIY grandma gift is ready to give! That is one quick and easy idea for DIY gifts for grandma on Mother’s Day!
