How To Make Mason Jar Lid Snowman
You know I love mason jar crafts around here, but what about mason jar lids?!
Just like the mason jar, the mason jar lid can be used to create so many fun crafts! For example, I made these 5 Ornaments and even these Cork Coasters using mason jar lids.
I clearly couldn’t get enough of using mason lids, so today I will be showing you how to create your own snowman ornament using any mason jar lid you have in your stash!
Supplies Needed For Mason Jar Lid Snowman
- Sculpey PREMO Clay in Red and Orange
- Buttons in black and white
- Canning lid
- White card stock
- Decoupage
- White glitter
- Ribbon
- Hot glue
Step 1: Trace Lid Onto Card Stock
Start by tracing your canning lid onto your white card stock.
Step 2: Add Glitter To Card Stock
Cut out cardstock then add decoupage and white glitter. Set aside to dry.
Step 3: Create Carrot Nose
Form a carrot-like shape with your Sculpey clay. I added a few lines for interest on the sides as well.
Step 4: Create Santa Hat & Bake Clay
Roll out the red clay until thin and cut a “hat” like shape the size of your canning lid.
Flip over the hat as shown below.
Lift the flap and add some texture across the bottom. I used a wheel from the Sculpey Essential Tool Kit. Flip your flap back over and bake both clay pieces for the recommended amount of time on the package.
Step 5: Hot Glue Embellishments To Lid
Add all of your embellishments to your canning lid using hot glue. Add a ribbon to the back for hanging and your canning lid snowman ornament is ready for your tree!
Turn some of those old canning lids into ornaments yourself! Make my mason jar lid snowman ornament or come up with another version for your tree!
FAQs About Mason Jar Lid Snowman

Can I Change The Size Of This Ornamanet?
Yes! You can use whatever size mason jar lid that you have on hand to create this fun snowman ornament!
Could I Use Glitter Cardstock For This Project?
Absolutely! If you would rather skip adding the glitter, you can use glitter cardstock instead.
Can I Use A Different Type Of Glue For This Project?
Hot glue is the ideal type of glue for crafting projects like this one because it’s affordable, dries quickly, and has a stronghold. However, if you don’t have a hot glue gun, you could use crafting glue or super glue.
When using other types of glue, just be aware that setting time will take longer, and you’ll need to hold items in place until the glue sets.
