I have a fun
little craft tutorial for you all today that I hope you all will like. I am sure you have all heard of Ballard designs well I fell in love with their Burlap Bird Ornaments and thought that I would try my hand at recreating them so here is my version.
Ballard Knockoff Burlap Bird Ornament
Want to make one or a bunch of them?
Here is what you will need:

Burlap Fabric
-
Heat and Bond
-
Polyfill
-
Black Seed Beads
-
Black Acrylic Paint
-
Small Craft Paint Brush
-
Glue Gun and Glue
-
Jute Twine
-
Needle and Thread
-
Sewing Machine (optional)
Wow quite the list it didn’t seem like that much when I was making it lol!
To start I just cut a couple squares of burlap and a couple squares of heat and bond a little bigger than my bird .
Iron your heat and bond to your burlap, trace your bird to one of your heat and bond sides of your burlap heat and bond squares.
Sandwich your two squares of burlap together burlap sides facing each other heat and bond sides facing out.
Cut around the bird leaving a seam allowance for sewing. Sew around the bird leaving a hole in the bottom where I have marked where the two pins are so you can turn to the right side for stuffing making sure to back stitch at the pins.
Stuff your bird with Polyfill.
Sew the hole closed.
With Floral Wire Make a shape for the tail feather. I forgot to take a picture but the you will wrap twine tightly around the wire you will have to glue with hot glue to hold in place after a few wraps then continue wrapping. Leave the long piece unwrapped.
Wrap Several times around all three feathers when you get them all wrapped and glue the end piece of twine down.
Poke in the end of the bird and glue in place with hot glue.
Do the same with the wing pieces but they will only have two loops.
Glue in place on each side of the bird.
Swirl jute in your fingers
Glue on the wing piece add glue and add more swirls around keep a long piece of jute to add swirl to other wing on other side of bird.
Bring your jute over the beak.
Add your swirl around starting from your outer swirl in this time.
Glue on your seed beads, and paint the beak.
Make a loop of jute and tie the end.
Glue in place on your bird.
And enjoy your Burlap Bird Ornament!!!!
