How to Create Mason Jar Canvas Art
I had so much fun creating this mason jar canvas art. I love the bright colors and the great thing about this project is that you can use any colors and designs you want to create canvas art that will match your home decor.
These also make a great gift and are perfect for creating holiday decor too. Canvases and scrapbook paper are inexpensive which makes canvas art a great option for craft projects you’re making in groups.
Supplies Used:
- Cricut Machine
- Canvas
- Decoupage Medium
- Bakers Twine
- Scrapbook Paper
- Rubber band
Covering the Canvas
To create my decoupage mason jar canvas art I used a collection of papers from the American Crafts Mayberry line. These papers and embellishments are no longer available so you can just pick any papers that match your decor.
I used white and yellow gingham paper to cover the entire canvas. Cover the entire surface of the canvas and edges with decoupage and place the paper on top.
You can see my technique for adding paper to a canvas in this post here.
I use a rubber band to hold the edges in place while the whole thing dries. Once it’s dried you can trim the corners and edges as shown in the photo below.
Applying the Design
I used my Cricut machine to cut a mason jar from pink paper and then used decoupage to apply it to the canvas.
Once that was dry I collected other embellishments and played around with the placement until I came up with something I loved.
Adding Embellishments
The Hello Love, Ice Cold Lemonade, and Watermelon pieces are all cut from the Mayberry line of paper. You could create something similar using Design Space and the print-then-cut feature.
I used the decoupage medium to attach everything to the canvas, even the baker’s twine! It works really well as an adhesive just make sure you give it plenty of time to dry.
Final Thoughts on Creating Mason Jar Canvas Art
Did you ever think you could create your own art without a paintbrush? This was such a fun project to make and I really do love that you can create anything with this process. If you like butterflies or dinosaurs or old cars you can likely find images in Design Space to help you create canvas art perfect for you!
I hope I answered all your questions about creating canvas art with your Cricut machine. If you have any additional questions leave them in the comments and I’ll answer them for you. If you make your own canvas art I’d love to see it so share that with us too!
