It’s time to add an unconventional twist to your seasonal decor! Beautify a simple mason jar with gorgeous decorative colored tape for a fun Easter egg mason jar. Nothing screams Easter more than this mason jar craft!
I don’t know if I believe it, but y’all, Easter is fast approaching! I came up with a fun way to use washi tape to make stickers and thought I would use the technique to make an easy Easter mason jar. This is a part of my compensated design teamwork with DecoArt; however, all projects and opinions are my own.
Mason jars are my favorite home decor DIY tool; for this one, it’s not a deviation. What makes me love these jars even more is that they’re accessible at home. Almost everyone I know has a spare jar hiding below the sink that’s just begging to be used.
Coming up with Easter decor in a short timeframe is nerve-wracking, especially if you’re a mom who doesn’t have the time to spend loads of hours prepping Easter decor at home.
I’m so happy to share with you this inexpensive decor idea that anyone can make during their free time. Making this Easter mason jar craft is a quick and fun weekend or afternoon DIY project that doesn’t require 24 hours of your time.
So if you have some extra supplies at home, this mason jar decor idea will save you some stress and a lot of money this Easter!
How to Make an Easter Mason Jar with Washi Tape
Supplies needed
(If using a Cricut or cutting machine, you’ll also need a cutting mat)
If you’re a mason jar craft lover like me, this one will be a blast for you! With a few overlays of spray or acrylic paint and some twine and faux flowers, along with your favorite colored decorative tape, you’re ready for the upcoming holiday!
Spring brings beautiful colors everywhere, and it’s exciting me to make a breathtaking Easter mason jar project for our home decor. And don’t worry! This is not messy or take too long to craft.
You’ll love showing off these mason jar crafts and with good reason! They just look so adorable and stunning that each home NEEDS something like this along with their Easter baskets.
With that being said, here’s how you can make these yourself!
Step 1: Paint
Start with a couple of jars, I linked the ones I used in the supply list above. Paint your Easter mason jar with an Americana Chalky Finish color of your choice using spray paint or a paintbrush.
Step 2: Make vinyl or washi stickers
While the painted jars dry, make your stickers. I have a brief video below with the steps to make washi stickers. I also have the steps written out below if you need them.
Start with freezer paper and washi tape. Draw or trace a shape onto the freezer paper with a pencil if cutting by hand. Apply the tape in stripes across the shape. Be sure the strips overlap slightly.
If you’re using your Cricut or other cutting machine, you can just apply the tape strips to the freezer paper and put that on your cutting mat; using adhesive vinyl would work as well. Pick a complementary color to your paint, or use a fun patterned piece of vinyl.
Apply decoupage medium to the overlapping tape pieces and allow to dry completely.
Step 3: Cut and place the stickers
Cut out the washi tape shape with scissors or using your Cricut. Remove the sticker from the freezer paper carefully. As you can see in the video, mine came off in two pieces. That is fine! Just align them on the mason jar surface.
Once your sticker is in place, go over your entire jar with a decoupage medium and allow it to dry. If you are using adhesive vinyl, you don’t need the decoupage medium unless you want to give it a matte or shiny look.
Just look at how cute this Easter mason jar already looks? I’m getting impatient to see the finished results!
Your Easter mason jar craft is finished! Tie on a ribbon to your jars and add some flowers for a fun centerpiece.
This same method can be used for any shape from washi tape. You could make these for any occasion or use them for party decorations. What will you create with this method? Is it my Easter mason jar craft or something entirely different? I can’t wait to see it!
