Easy Caramel Sauce Recipe
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup firmly packaged brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Place butter, milk, and brown sugar in a heavy saucepan over low heat. As soon as melted, increase the heat to medium and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes before stirring in extract. Set aside to cool and thicken.
