Supplies needed to make your own candle sticks:
- random small candle sticks
- some prepackaged, precut dowels from the dollar store
- hot glue
- spray paint
- jute twine (optional)
Okay I am hoping I am not the only one that picks up random candle sticks at thrift stores and garage sales. I was looking for a way for make them taller, more substantial, and of course fabulous. So I started putting on dowels with hot glue.
Worked my way all the way around.
Now it is spray paint time! But before I spray paint this one I decided to try another. This time using…a toilet paper roll…
Yep you read that right. This time I glued my sticks to the toilet paper roll.
And after the spray paint…
Which one is easier you ask? They were both about equal really. So pick your method…
Yes!!!
I love this!!! I have been gluing plates to the tops of everything lately. I can totally see these chunky candlesticks as a nice base for my newest addiction!!!
Great project!!!!

Wow…fantastic job!
Okay, yeah, that turned out just uber cool! I HAD to pop over from CSI to see exactly what you did, And I love it!
That turned out GREAT!
Brilliant! Saw these on CSI and this week’s challenge is going to be sooooo dangerous for me, giving me even more reason to hang out at my dollar store lol.
ssswwwweeettt! i am amazed!
Thats great!! I bet you could even use those bamboo sticks that come in the packages of 100 instead of the dowels. . . I am going to have to copy this idea 😉 Good luck on the CSI contest!!
How creative! I would have never thought of this.
Amazing! I never would have guessed you used dowels and a toilet paper roll! You are so crafty Angie!

Angie, you did great!!! I love your project. 🙂 I didn’t participate this week. Didn’t have a chance to get anything together, and I only had one visit from the party last week. Kind of a bummer. :s
Good job!
Super cute! What’s the story on those candles with the music on them? Did you make those too? If so, how?
Thanks!
Jen
What a great way to beef up a candlestick! I just can’t do the high price tags when you buy them. I’m going to give this a try! Thanks for sharing … I’ve posted a link. And I hope you’ll come join my link party some time.
