These handmade Valentine cards with pom pom critters are quick, easy, and absolutely adorable! They are today’s contribution to Craft Lightning. Every day this week I will be posting a quick Valentine’s Day craft in the morning along with my partner for this series 30 Minute Crafts. Then each afternoon I will be posting features from around the web.

How To Make Handmade Valentine Cards
These quick and easy, two-step handmade Valentine’s Day cards can be as simple or complex as you like! Print out your Valentine message, make super cute pom-pom characters, and then decorate cards in your favorite colors.
Supplies Needed To Make Handmade Valentine Cards
- Foamies Pom Pom Critters Kit (makes 24) (this is the kit I used — also available is the Foamies Valentine Sparkle Critters Kit)
- Gemstones Paper Pack in 4.25 x 5.5 size
- White card stock paper
- Circle punch, die for cutter, electronic cutter, paper cutter, or scissors
- Hot glue and hot glue gun
Step 1: Print And Cut Out Your Message
Print “Have a FUZZY Valentine’s Day!” on white card stock, and cut out with whatever method you have available. I used a circle die with my Sizzix Big Shot, but you could simply use a pair of scissors or paper cutter and alter the design to a square or rectangle.
Step 2: Decorate Your Cards
My kids loved helping with that part of our Valentine’s card-making party! The pom pom critters kit comes with everything you need to make your little pom pom guys. I then just hot-glued the critters and the punched paper circles to the precut gemstone paper.
These handmade Valentine’s Day cards will be the talk of the classroom come February. Plus the little critter is a non-candy treat that each child will get to take home to play with!
So simple yet cute and gives a handmade touch to your Valentine’s gift giving. Y’all have a fuzzy Valentine’s Day!
Tips and Tricks for Valentine Handmade Cards
Now that you’ve seen this Valentine clothespin craft, are you ready to make your own? Here are a few tips and tricks to ensure your project goes as smoothly as possible!
- Change The Size Of The Card – The nice thing about this project is that these cards can be any size that you like! So, use what you have on hand and make the perfect size card to fit whoever you are gifting it to!
- Skip The Sparkly Paper – If you don’t have sparkly paper on hand, you can use regular cardstock instead!
- Use Different Size Pom Poms – Have fun with creating your critters and use different size pom poms! I used a standard size because they came with the kit. However, if you are not using a kit, you can make these pom pom critters bigger!
