Homemade Valentine’s Treat Bags Instructions
Making these treat bags is very simple – just follow my step-by-step instructions below.
If you want to change things up, you can grab a few supplies and make either my boy or girl version (guitars or hearts) of these handmade Valentine’s Day treat pillow boxes.
Make A Guitar Valentine’s Day Treat Bag
Let’s start with the boys’ version. For the boys’ treat bags, the felt guitar was my main element.
Step 1: Make “Rock Out Valentine” Image
Print the words on white card stock and cut them out in a circle shape. Cut out a larger circle out of black card stock and glue the white card stock circle onto the black circle (in the middle).
I used my Sizzix to cut both the printed white card stock and another circle from black card stock.
Pro Tip: Using my Sizzix to cut out the images was a good fit for me, but you can use any method of paper cutting you have available to get your elements. You can use scissors or a paper cutter to make a square or rectangular element instead of a circle if desired.
Step 2: Add Decoration Elements To The Bags
I made all of my elements first and added the “Rock On Valentine!” card stock printouts to the bags. Then, I set up a mini assembly line to put together our bags.
The first version was not boyish enough for my 7-year-old, so he insisted on adding the skull. Thank goodness for leftover Halloween scrapbook paper, right? Ha!
Note: I used a couple of different-sized circle dies to get those skulls out of two sheets of leftover paper.
I actually used hot glue for all of the elements except for the star stickers. It was handy, and I like to keep things simple.
Make A Heart Valentine’s Day Treat Bag
If you have girls instead of boys, I have you covered! These girly heart treat bags are so super simple – here’s how to make them.
Step 1: Stamp The Wording
I used a Valentine’s Day stamp and pink ink in one corner of the bag to add the wording I wanted. You can make your own stamp (if you want to say something simple) or buy one you like.
Step 2: Add Stickers And Any Other Elements
Then I added a variety of foam and felt stickers to decorate the bag.
Now, your DIY Valentine’s Day treat bags are complete! Wasn’t that easy?
Get the kids involved in the making of either of these treat bags. Quick and easy crafts like these are perfect for little hands. Plus, they will be extra proud to say they made them when they take these to school.

Can I use a different kind of glue?
Yes! You can use almost any adhesive that you like to work with (craft glue, etc.). For projects like this one, I prefer to use hot glue because it sets quickly and holds securely.
