How To Make A Mason Jar Soap Dispenser

Now that you have your free Rae Dun inspired SVG file, let’s make a mason jar soap dispenser!

Supplies Needed To Make Mason Jar Soap Dispenser

• Pint mason jar with at least one plain side (I use this version)
• White craft paint
• Cricut machine (see which machine is my favorite here)
• Vinyl in the color of your choice
• Transfer tape
• Mason jar soap pump
• Paintbrush
• Wash your hands cut file (download below)
• Weeding tools (optional)

Step 1: Paint Mason Jar

Start by painting your mason jar in the color of your choice. Be sure to start with a clean jar before painting. I like to clean mine with rubbing alcohol then allow to dry before painting. Add two coats of paint allowing to dry in between coats.

Step 2: Upload Cut File To Cricut Design Space

Download the cut file above and upload to your Cricut machine. You can see how to do that here.

Step 3: Cut Design From Vinyl

Cut the file from the vinyl of your choice.

Step 4: Weed Design

Weed away all excess vinyl. Weeding tools make this easier but they are optional.

Step 5: Add Vinyl To Mason Jar

Then, once the paint is dry, use transfer tape to put the vinyl on the front of your DIY mason jar soap dispenser.

Step 6: Add Soap Pump To Mason Jar

Add the soap pump to the top and you are ready to add your Rae Dunn inspired project to your bathroom.

Can I Use Any Type Of Mason Jar For This Project?

Technically, yes. However, the two things to remember are that 1) the mason jar needs to be smooth-sided (or at least have one smooth side) to apply the vinyl and 2) it needs to be able to fit a pump.

Can I Use Any Cricut Machine For This Project?

Yes, you can! The Cricut Maker, Cricut Explore series, Cricut Joy, Cricut Joy Xtra, and Cricut Venture, can all work for this project.

The only thing to keep in mind is that each Cricut machine is different in regard to project size capabilities and the materials it can cut. So, depending on what project you have in mind, you might need to resize the SVG file or cut it out in a different material.

Can I Use Any Type Of Vinyl For This Project?

Since this project will be around water, I recommend that you only use Permanent Vinyl.

I Downloaded The SVG And It’s Extremely Large. What Size Should The SVGs Be?

I would size it to be the size of the jar you are using. I don’t resize them before uploading.

Will The Chalk Paint Hold When Using The Mason Jar Soap Dispenser? I Have A 3 Year Old That Never Fails To Get Soap All Over The Bottle While Pumping.

I find that it holds up well. My kids are older though! You can add a sealer over it if you want.
