Mother’s Day ideas can be hard to come by. Especially those that are super easy to make by kids of all ages. This handprint pillow can be made by toddlers and preschoolers (with a little help from you of course). So grab you supplies and make mom (or grandma) this one of a kind keepsake gift idea. This one was originally posted over at Crafts Unleashed where I am a paid contributor but I am posting it here in case you missed it.
Supplies needed to make your own Mother’s Day ideas:
Also, some products below may have been given to me free of charge, however, all projects and opinions are my own.
- Zipper Pillow Cover (Remember to wash before painting!)
- Pillow Insert (to fit your pillow cover)
- Dimensional Fabric Paint
- Fabric Paint (in the colors of your choice)
- Paint Brushes
- Scrap cardboard
Add scrap cardboard to the inside of your pillow cover to ensure that the paint does not bleed through to the back of your project. Start adding random hand prints to the pillow cover in any color that you like. TIP: Paint the child’s hand with a paint brush then apply to the pillow cover. Small kids may need some help.
Use a paint brush and the green paint to add stems, leaves, grass, and anything else you would like. Older children will love this portion!
Then add on the name and year with some dimensional fabric paint.
Set your pillow cover aside and allow to dry completely before touching.
I told you that Mother’s Day ideas could be easy as well as cute! This one definitely fits that bill!
Once everything is dry, remove your cardboard and add in your pillow form. Then this one is ready to give to mom on the big day.
You might want to pick up more than one pillow cover as mom and grandma will both love this gift idea. I love Mother’s Day ideas that are sentimental like this one. Don’t you?
Cute idea! Great gifts for grandmothers. Visiting from Project Inspired.
I can’t wait to make this with my kids for a Mother’s Day gift for their Grandmas!
