Time for the second post in my mini series on transforming your outdoor space with spray paint! Click here to see the first post this morning on spray painting a chevron rug!! This mini series is brought to you by Krylon Dual Spray paint! This post is all about how to get a worn chipped paint finish on your plant pots! This is my secret to getting that chippy look on my pots and I am going to share it with you today! Break out your clay pots and spray paint and lets get started!!
Any clay pots will do for this one. Plus my secret ingredient…what is it you ask??
The secret ingredient is candle wax! I have this egg candle and a taper — between the both of them I can get in all the tough spots. Cover the ENTIRE pot in a THICK coat of candle wax. Rub, rub, rub…
Then turn your pots upside down and give them a coat of spray paint.
They almost look textured with all of the candle wax…
After the spray paint dries, just rub…the paint will flake off and give you that chippy paint texture. I use a scotch brite pad to rub. It makes it easier and will not take as long.
See the difference…the one on the left has been rubbed off…
Gorgeous chipped paint finish in a fraction of the time!
Get that worn look for a little farmhouse flair — all with very little effort!
All that is left is to put a few plants in and enjoy your gorgeous worn pots!! Course you can use these indoors too!
