How to Use the Apothecary Jar Labels
Now that you have your free printable vintage labels, you are ready to add them to some jars.
Supplies needed:
- Free printable vintage labels from above
- Old jars and bottles (you may already have some of these on hand)
- Regular copy paper or label stock
- Brown craft ink (this is my favorite ink for distressing)
- Paper towels
- Mod Podge or Xyron Creative Station
- Scissors
Adding Vintage Labels to Jars
Download and print your free printable vintage labels on regular paper or on label stock. I used just plain paper for mine. You can also print on label stock and skip the steps for adding adhesive below.
Please also note that your printable will look different than mine. I added even more apothecary labels in different sizes to fill the page. Then use some brown ink and a paper towel to distress each label. I made some darker then others. Just rub your paper towel on the ink pad then rub it across your printed labels.
Then gather up random jars and bottles. You could even use old food jars as literally anything should work for this.
Then just cut your labels out using scissors. You have a few options for adhering the labels to the jars:
- If you used label stock, just peel and stick.
- Put Mod Podge on the back and stick them to the jars.
- Use a Xyron Creative Station to apply adhesive to the labels before sticking.
- Use the print then cut feature on your Cricut and some label stock to make stickers.
That is literally all there is to this project. So easy and yet they look so good! A perfect way to bring that farmhouse feel into any room of your home even if you are on a budget.
I love the brown ink in varying degrees on each label. Now that you know how easy these are to make, what are you waiting for? Download the free printable vintage labels above and get started on your own collection.
And when you get tired of these labels they should come right off with some water and elbow grease. Perfect for me since I can never make up my mind!
Start printing right now and gather up your useless bottles and jars! I added mine to my vintage cabinet in the bathroom but these can literally work in just about any room. Have a great time using these apothecary labels to spruce up your home.

Thanks for sharing girlfriend. I’d kill myself before I spent that much on a PB Bottle. NO WAY! I wouldn’t even spend that on a real live OLD ONE!

Thanks for joining my Weekend Bloggy Reading party (and for linking back-I appreciate that!). 🙂
Our Historical Society is having an exhibit (opening next Friday) on the beloved country doctor who delivered most of the people in town. We needed bottles and labels for his examining room. Your labels came just in the nick of time! Thanks.
