Looking for the perfect homemade touch to elevate your fall table? Look no further than these DIY pumpkin napkin rings!
I don’t know about you all, but my dining table gets a lot of use during the fall season! It is always busy between birthdays, Halloween, football watch parties, dinner parties, and (of course) Thanksgiving.
Thankfully, that allows me to get creative and develop fun ways to dress up my space. My new favorite creation is these adorable pumpkin napkin rings!
Pumpkin Napkin Rings Video Tutorial
The short video below demonstrates how to make these pumpkin napkin rings. They’re so simple and so gorgeous!
Can’t watch the video or didn’t catch all of the steps? I have all of the directions below.
How To Make Pumpkin Napkin Rings
Not only is this DIY cute, but it’s useful, too! This quick and easy project is perfect for your Thanksgiving table.
You can choose any colors that will work with your tablescape plans. I used a metallic yarn with gold gilding on my pumpkin because I like a touch of gold.
You can even involve the kids in the yarn wrapping on these. I love a Thanksgiving project that involves the family!
Supplies Needed To Make Pumpkin Napkin Rings
- Paper towel or toilet paper rolls (start saving these now!)
- Yarn (I used metallic yarn)
- Miniature pumpkins
- Gold Liquid Gilding
- Wood skewer
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue and glue gun
- Scissors
Step 1: Remove Stem From Pumpkin
First, remove the stem from the pumpkin. You should be able to pull it off with a tug.
Step 2: Insert Wood Skewer
Then, insert the wood skewer into the crevice where the stem was previously. This is how you can paint the entire pumpkin without getting a mess all over your hands!
Step 3: Paint Pumpkin
To apply the liquid gilding, hold the skewer in one hand and use the paintbrush to apply it with the other. Set the skewer in a vase or over a shallow bowl so the pumpkin isn’t touching anything.
Allow the pumpkin to dry completely.
Step 4: Cut Cardboard Tube
In the meantime, get your paper towel or toilet paper roll and cut it into even rounds with scissors. This will be the actual “ring” of the napkin ring.
Step 5: Wrap Cardboard With Yarn
You don’t want to leave the cardboard as is, so let’s glam it up. To do so, add the yarn. Secure the end of the yarn with hot glue and wrap it around the roll to cover. This is a great time to recruit kiddos to help you or to binge a favorite TV series.
When wrapping is complete, secure the other end with hot glue.
Step 6: Add Pumpkin To Cardboard
Add the stem back to the pumpkin with a little glue. Just make sure it’s dry! Next, secure the pumpkin with hot glue to the front of the pumpkin napkin ring.
Add your napkin and enjoy!
