Download and print the labels.
Step 2: Stick Snowman Face To Mason Jar
Peel and stick the labels to the fronts of clean mason jar mugs.
Step 3: Remover Hanger From the Hat Ornament
Remove any hanger from the hat ornaments and touch up any areas with paint. You just want the hole to be barely visible.
Step 4: Glue Hat To Mason Jar Lid
Add the hat to your mason jar lid with some hot glue.
Step 5: Fill Mason Jar
Then, fill your mason jar mug with hot chocolate or other small gifts.
Don’t you love how easy that is? Here is a close-up of the hat so you can see what you are looking for at the store. The small hole in the center where the ornament hanger was is barely visible. Can’t find a hat? You could even crochet one with the instructions here.
Those labels are just perfect on the side of this mug. Don’t want to give a mug gift like this? These printable snowman faces will also work on the top of a standard-sized mason jar.

FAQs About Snowman Hot Chocolate Jars
Here are a couple of questions I often see from readers about these snowman hot chocolate jars. If you have a question but don’t see it below, please leave it in the comments so I can answer it.
Can I Use Any Type Of Jar For This Project?
Technically, yes. However, since we are adding a label to the side of the jar, I recommend using a smooth-sided jar.
Do I Need To Clean My Jar Before I Start This Project?
Yes! I didn’t mention it in the tutorial, but you will want to wash and clean your jar before you add the label. I would also clean the outside of the jar with alcohol because it will remove any extra ”dust” and give you a nice, clean surface to add your label.
I’m Using A Jar With A Label. Do You Have Any Tips For Removing The Label?
If you are using jars from your kitchen (like pickle jars, jam jars, etc.), there are several ways to remove the original label.
For these types of jars, I would let them soak in warm, soapy water, then use a scraper to remove the label. This has worked for me, but if you are dealing with a stubborn label, below are a few more things you can do.
- Pour hot water into the jar and let it sit. This will loosen the label on the outside.
- Create a mixture of dish soap and vinegar.
- Apply heat to the label using a hair dryer.
I’m Using A Jar With A Label. Do You Have Any Tips For Removing Sticky Residue?
I would use Goo Gone, soap, and water to remove any sticky residue from the jars. However, if you don’t like the smell of Goo Gone or need other options, below are a few ideas.
- Adhesive Removers (like 3M Adhesive Remover, Un-Du, etc.)
- White vinegar
- Nail Polish Remover
Can I Fill This Jar Up With Something Else?
Yes, you can! As I mentioned, you can fill this jar with anything you like. Below are a few more ideas if you want to skip the hot chocolate.
- Coffee or Tea
- Spa Items
- Stationary Items
- Gift card with some packaged candy
- Small toys
- Candy canes
- Homemade bark candy
- Mason jar cookie or other baked goods mix
