How to Make a Chill Pill Jar:
Now that you have printed off your free chill pill label, you can make a gift for any teacher.
Step 1: Print Chill Pill Label
Start off by printing the prescription label onto full-sized adhesive label sheets in white.
Step 2: Cut Out Label
Cut the labels out with either scissors or a paper cutter.
Step 3: Add Label To Jar
Peel and stick the label to the front of a smooth-sided jar.
Make sure the jar is clean before adding the label. I recommend cleaning the jar (inside and out) with soap and water. Then, for some extra assurance that your label will stick, clean the outside of the jar with an alcohol wipe so you are working with a clean surface.
If you don’t have adhesive label sheets, see my Tips & Tricks at the bottom of the tutorial for additional ideas on how to attach your label.
Step 4: Fill Jar With Chocolate Candy
Fill the jar with the chocolate candy of your choice.
If you are looking for more candy ideas, see my Tips & Tricks at the bottom of the tutorial!
Step 5: Decorate The Jar Lid
You can also decorate the lid with decorative tape (like washi tape) if you like.
Step 6: Add Lid To Jar
Add the lid and this one is ready for gift-giving!
Every teacher will love the gift of this jar with a chill pill label. She can add this to her desk and use this prescription just as prescribed!
This teacher thank you gift is funny but also shows just how much you appreciate everything they do. Grab your jars and chocolate and make these for all of the teachers on your list today. I love a quick and easy gift-in-a-jar idea!
Tips and Tricks for Chill Pill Label Jar
Now that you’ve seen how to make a chill pill label jar, are you ready to make your own? Here are a few tips and tricks to ensure your project goes as smoothly as possible!
- Don’t Have Adhesive Label Sheets? No Worries! – If you don’t have adhesive label sheets, you can print your chill pill label on regular paper and attach it to your jar in one of the following ways:
- Xyron Machine: Run your label through your Xyron Machine (it will turn your chill pill label into a sticker), peel off the clear film, peel off the backing, and attach it to your jar.
- Adhesive Tape Runner, Glue Stick, or Glue Dots: Add your chosen glue to the back of your chill pill label and attach it to your jar. With that being said, I would not use liquid glue or hot glue when adding your label because it could wrinkle and not give you a smooth finish.
- Pick The Right Jar – As I mentioned in the supply list, you will want a smooth pint-size jar for this project. However, if you are looking for other jar options, you can use the following:
- Quart Size Jars
- Half Pint Jars
- Plastic Quart, Pint, or Half Pint Size Jars
- Chocolate Candy Ideas – You might have noticed that the chill pill label mentions chocolate. Due to that, the ideas I am recommending will be chocolate-themed, but you could honestly fill this jar up with any candy that you like! Below are some other chocolate candy options!
- Mini Chocolate Candy Bars (like Kit-Kat, 3 Musketeers, Snickers, etc.)
- Wrapped Chocolate Candy (like Lindt LINDOR, Hershey Kisses, etc.)
- Chocolate Peanuts or Malt Balls
- Use The Chill Pill Label Jar As A Christmas Gift – This chill pill label would be the perfect gift at Christmas time! You can either leave it as is, or you could do the following to make it extra special:
- Add decorative Christmas or holiday tape to the lid
- Add a bow to the lid
- Fill it up with Christmas-themed candy that is wrapped in red, green, and gold foil!

Hello, I love your site! And I love this Teacher’s gift of Chill Pills. Super cute! I was wondering though, is it possible to change the label or if not could you create one for Boss’ Day? And/Or maybe even more generic one, i.e., gift for a favorite doctor, nurse, stressed out mom, etc (ex. phrasing-“for those pesky people that drive you crazy!) Perhaps a generic label could have a blank for the recipient to be filled in. Phrasing 4 Quantity?…I’m not sure. Any ideas? What do you think about this idea? 😉 Thanks!! 👍
I will look into it Julie for a future post!
Awesome idea! I too would be interested in a generic version, a template of sorts. If not, can you provide instructions on how to create the label; I would love to create these for an event I’m hoping in a few months. Thanks in advance!
I couldn’t find an updated post, were you able to create a generic label?
No I just have this one Sarah!
Hi Angie,
I’m trying to use this idea for our school state testing that is about to start! Every time I try to print the the attachment it just shoots out a blank paper. Do you have another link for the printable?
I just tested it and it worked for me. Are you using this link:

Try restarting your computer if it is still not working.
What a neat idea! 🙂

Thanks for joining Cooking and Crafting with J & J!
Our PTO gave us something similar to this for testing days. Chocolate is always appreciated by teachers! Love your label!
Darling idea. Thanks for sharing it with us at Brag About It. Pinned 🙂
I love this idea! I can change the label to any occasion I prefer to give this…
Thanks for sharing.
We did these for teachers back in the early 90s when a couple of my daughters were in elementary school. It’s a great idea and the teachers thought they were so cute. The candy lasted about a day. LOL
I’ll be featuring this on Happiness is Homemade this week and using it for Teacher’s Appreciation Week (room mom here!).
This was so easy and I appreciate you sharing this for free. Projects like these are perfect for Teacher Appreciation Week.
I tried printing the pharmacy label but it gives me a blank page. I tried re starting my computer but it still gave me the blank page. is their another link I can try?
Thank you,
Jackie
Try downloading it and then printing perhaps instead of printing right from the website.
I can’t download the printable pharmacy label
You will need to do it on a computer and not on your phone. I just did it myself the other day so I know it is working!
