DIY Halloween Wreath with Googly Eyes

Remember from yesterday, I started wreath week here on the CCC! So go check out my Rummikub wreath if you missed it. Now for wreath #2 made out of something unexpected…okay downright weird. Today’s wreath is a Halloween wreath with googly eyes! Yep– eyes! BOO! So are you ready to make your own eye wreath to scare the trick-or-treaters? Read on to find out how!

Make Your Own DIY Halloween Wreath

Google eyes have never been spookier! This DIY Halloween wreath is ultra scary and perfect for your front door whenever you’re wanting to make your house extra scary and festive. The cheesecloth looks like eerie spider webs and is the perfect welcome for your guests or trick or treaters.

Supplies Needed

• Styrofoam Circle: You will want to make a ring out of the circle. Just carve out the center or find a ring at the craft store!
• Black Paint: Black paint is used to give this Halloween wreath extra creepiness, but you can use any Halloween color like orange, purple, or all three!
• Googly Eyes: You can pick those up at any craft store or dollar tree cheap.
• Hot Glue and Glue Gun: You’ll need these to assemble everything!
• Cheesecloth: I like to use cheesecloth because it is the perfect type of material to make your own DIY spiderwebs.
• Chipboard Letters: Spell out “Boo” or your other favorite creepy Halloween saying!
• Frame: Any kind of frame will work! Build a frame, buy one, or recycle an old frame.
• Ribbon: Black ribbon is used to hang the google eyes sign from the frame. Any color will work!

Note: You can find most of these items at your local craft store.

How to Make Your DIY Halloween Wreath with Google Eyes

This Halloween wreath is scary and just right for Halloween! This craft is super easy and perfect for all ages!

Step 1

First, paint the styrofoam ring black, then hot glue on the eyes. This was one wreath I was not worried about glue strings. The strings add to the spooky effect cause they look like spider webs.

Step 2

Add chipboard letters to spell “BOO”!

Step 3

Now my circle was small — about 6 inches in diameter. So, I needed something else to make it pop off the door. I wrapped a picture frame in torn white fabric scraps then grabbed my cheesecloth.

Step 4

Cut a piece of cheesecloth to fit around your frame with some extra fabric hanging off. Stretch it around your frame and use hot glue in the back to secure it.

Step 5

I took my scissors and poked holes in the cheesecloth. Pull your scissors when you poke through for a larger, more elongated hole. Just poke in other areas. Just get it to be spooky.

Step 6

Next, i then used a black ribbon to secure my little wreath in the center of the frame.

The googly-eyed wreath stands out against the spooky white background! Doesn’t this look so good?!

Cheesecloth makes an excellent addition to your Halloween decor if you have not already tried it. It makes things extra spooky and you might even have some in your kitchen supplies!

How to Use

Hang this scary Halloween wreath on your front door to celebrate Halloween or hang it up on the wall for extra decorations inside the house. Feel free to spell out different Halloween sayings for the wreath.
